That is not a LeCar, it’s an imported GTE. It’s basically a SuperCinq with a 95hp engine. The LeCar was a first generation R5

On the one hand, that’s a cool and unique ride for very little dough.
On the other hand, didn’t those not sell well here because they were Le Crap?

Well, a SuperCinq
in that condition
is worth something in Europe as well. Maybe not in the UK, but elsewhere it is.

But only in ultra-low mileage garage queen condition or GT Turbo form.

This one has less than 9k km on it, and it’s a somewhat desirable version.

Apparently this was the display car for a Renault dealer

It pretty clearly says GTE on the license plate and bootlid and the GTE is basically just a GTX with a Turbo bodykit (and a few other bits).

lol what I meant is that the GTE is not a LeCar... LeCar for me = USDM R5 first gen, which is why I mentioned that and didn’t a joke in it. In all fairness the GTE is pretty bad too when compared to a 205 GTI of the same era...

French build quality be damned, that is a nice price for any car in this shape with this amount of miles. Though, the fact that it hasn’t been run makes me think that this thing is going to blow seals left and right. Car engines really don’t like to sit for long periods.

reminds me of these lines in a sketch from UK comedy Alas Smith and Jones from years ago
“you useless farting little French midget”
the new Renault 5 , what’s yours called.

I apologise for not knowing that GTE and GT Turbo were not different names for the same thing elsewhere.
